We keep on wanting many things in life. In fact, because of too many wants, we fail to see what we are already getting. Nowadays, people in social media keep on talking about financial independence.

The subject on personal finance becomes the most talked-about topic. But despite of all the information we are getting on how to grow and multiply our money, we still feel that they’re not enough.

Why?

The simple explanation may be that we don’t know what we really want in life or what our ultimate goal is.

I know that many motivational speakers, authors, and gurus already talked about the subject matter of the importance of goals but up until now, still many people fail to realize how important it is. We always want a short-cut in everything that we want in life. For this reason, even at the advent of modern technology, many civilized people are still becoming victims of scammers.

If you are one of those who are looking for easy way on getting things done, I’m telling you there is a short-cut that we can take—and that is by having GOALS.

If you take a look at what had happened in your life, most of your failures can be attributed by lack of goals. As Bill Copeland once said, “The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score.”

You may have written too many goals in life, but the question is, are you working on it? Sometimes we come to a point in our life that we are loosing direction and everything is becoming non-sense.

That is because you are not living your life for something.

Having goal gives us a sense of direction and purpose in life. We have to understand that as a human being, we are hard-wired to be a goal-setting being. We always want to move to the direction we set. But if you fail to set things for yourself—you will live to the goal that was set by others.

Remember we are a goal setting machine. Look at yourself when you are spending time on Facebook, you barely notice how fast the time passed. We are hard-wired to keep our mind busy on something and when we are working on something our goal is to complete it.

But the problem with spending all your time with social media is… it will never end! You’ll always have something new to watch, read or hear!

So, how to become financially successful?

Ask yourself, what do you really want to achieve in life and how much do you need to accomplish it?

Once you find the answer to those questions then set a goal how much you can set aside in order to bring you closer to your dream. It doesn’t matter how big or small the amount you can start. What’s important is you start as soon as possible. It does’t matter what type of investment vehicles you will use. What matters is you sign up to an investment account, then put something on it regularly.

Why do we give up on our goal?

The moment you torment yourself with lots of things-to-do and learn, that’s the time you give signal to your brain that this is not fun anymore.

Don’t worry if you cannot attend to all the seminars out in the market and if you can’t have the latest certification. You don’t need an MBA for you to become successful in life. All you need to do is to focus in getting yourself closer to your goal.

Goals are not projects, goals are not to-do lists. If you are worrying too much of the details, your mind will start to give it up.

Remember that we are born to be happy and we always seek happiness in life. When we start working on our goals we feel so happy, but the moment you pollute it with lots of intricate details—it will not be fun anymore—soon, we will give up on our goal.

Do you want a get-rich-quick scheme?

Focus on the things that you really, really, really want. Then, have fun working on it!

Goal is important that’s why we set it. Just like how important our dream is, that’s why we dream it.
